A record sum of £35,000 was raised last year, with 450 people taking part, so the aim this year was to beat that total and helping the charity to meet this aim was our very own team from TruckEast Ltd, David Hall – Sales Director, Paul Merry – Service Supervisor, Simon Crouchman – Parts Supervisor and Kevin York – Technician.

All the team did extremely well and completed their intended mileage. David Hall covered 5 miles, with Kevin York covering 25 miles, along with Paul Merry and Simon Crouchman who both bravely cycled 50 miles. Bravely, you might think! However, considering neither Paul nor Simon had done any previous cycling, they knew it was going to be difficult and after twelve miles they came to appreciate that fifty miles may have been a step too far, but after six hours of pedalling and in quite a bit of pain, they managed to cross the finishing line. They were even escorted in by the Ambulance Service, but for moral support only you understand! All our team commented that they had a really enjoyable fun day and would like to take part again next year, as it was worth every turn of the pedal for the good work carried out by Macmillan Cancer Support.
