Maritime Transport's preferred fleet choice is the Scania R 470 LA6x2/4MNA twin-steer tractor unit plated at 44 tonnes gross train weight.   The Euro 4 models being supplied to the company feature Scania DT12-03 turbo-compound engines with Scania HPI (High Pressure Injection) systems and the patented Scania EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system.   The 12-litre six-cylinder DT12-03 power unit develops 470 horsepower (345kW) at 1,900 rpm and 2,200Nm of torque between 1,100 and 1,450 rpm.

Scania is thoroughly proven within our fleet and the new Euro 4 R 470 is an ideal choice for our business," comments Maritime Transport's Managing Director, John Williams.

Maritime Transport's standard specification also includes the Scania Topline cab.   "With drivers being out for several nights a week, it is important that we provide highly appointed vehicles that are both safe and comfortable for our staff to work and live in," adds John Williams.

The new trucks will be dispersed around Maritime Transport's ten UK operating bases, which between them handle 5,000 container movements a week.   The company's fleet currently numbers 360 tractor units, which is supplemented by approximately 250 sub-contractors every day in order to meet the demand from Maritime Transport's portfolio of blue chip clients.
