Scania Engines
  Engines

The Scania engine range comprises 9, 12, 14 and 16-litre engines. Scania focus research and development on mastering the balance between emission levels, economy and performance.

All charge-cooled Scania industrial engines for non-road mobile machinery comply with the European 97/68/ EC and the US exhaust emission regulations, both based on ISO 8178. Engines for power generation meet regulations such as the German TA-luft, and marine engines today's regulations, and are well prepared for proposed international legislation.

Individual Cylinder Heads

All engines feature individual cylinder heads. This one-man service concept is important for easier and quicker service and repairs without workshop facilities.

Efficient oil cleaning

High filtration capacity is a decisive factor in assuring long engine life. All Scania engines have a two stage lube oil cleaning process, comprising a centrifugal cleaner in combination with a cyclone cleaner or a full flow paper filter element.

The unique Scania Saver Ring concept

The Scania Saver Ring is seated at the top of the cylinder liner. On the piston upward stroke it removes deposits From the piston top land, thereby preventing coke build-up and bore polishing. The combustion pressure causes the Keystone type piston ring to make a tight seal against the liner wall. The liner and piston rings are complementary in improving performance. This concept contributes to the capability of Scania engines to withstand high and continuous loads with remarkably low lube oil consumption -less than 0.3 g/kWh.

Industrial Engines
An industrial diesel engine often lives a tough life. It is expected to start up reliably. It has to be economical with both fuel and lubricants. What is more, it is required to produce a high power output and high torque levels, while offering a long service life!
