Scania EGR for Euro 4 and Euro 5
  Euro 4 engines

Scania has developed two different technologies in preparation for Euro 4.

This dual approach makes it possible for Scania to apply the most appropriate technology according to engine, application and maturity of development.

These two technologies are Scania EGR and Scania SCR.

Scania Euro 4 inline engines
For all inline engines, Scania has chosen to adopt EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). From an environmental perspective, EGR technology has the advantage that it works 100% of the time in all operating conditions, making it eminently suitable for everything from demanding long-haulage to stop-go traffic in busy urban areas.

Scania EGR has been researched and extensively tested by customers.  Feedback clearly indicates that the step up to Euro 4 is achieved with outstanding economy, driveability and performance.

Scania V8 engines
SCR works to best effect when trucks operate with full load at consistently high cruising speeds. These are precisely the conditions in which our V8 engines excel.

All Scania Euro 4 V8 engines will use SCR technology that has been developed for Scania engines and has been proven by customers in extensive operating trials.

In addition to positive feedback on fuel economy, operators report high standards of driveability from the rapidly building huge torque outputs.
